A singer’s education,
given back.
Andreas Aroditis is a tenor, voice teacher, and the founder and director of the Vocal Excellence Summer Programme. He lives and works in Limassol, Cyprus — a short walk from the theatres where he now performs, and half a world away from the New York conservatoire where his training began.

Andreas earned his Bachelor of Music (2009) and Master of Music (2011) in voice at The Juilliard School, where he studied on a full scholarship. His student years were spent largely on stage: sixteen Juilliard production and recital programmes between 2006 and 2011 carry his name, in repertoire reaching from Cavalli’s La Doriclea to Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites.
In April 2009 the Oratorio Society of New York named him a finalist in its Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition, with the final round held at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. In the summer of 2010 he sang Beaumarchais — the role that sets Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles in motion — at the Aspen Opera Theater Center, where Opera Today called him “amazingly adept and versatile”. In his final spring at Juilliard he sang Ramiro in Ravel’s L’Heure espagnole and the Notary in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and was noted in The New York Times, which wrote that he “sang convincingly as Ramiro”.
His summers followed the American training circuit: the Aspen Music Festival, the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute, and the International Vocal Arts Institute, which took him from Caguas, Puerto Rico — where he sang in the IVAI gala with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra — to Tel Aviv, where he performed Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. His studies were supported by the George and Marie Vergottis Scholarship; on graduating he received the Novick Career Advancement Grant for outstanding graduates, followed by a career grant from the A. G. Leventis Foundation.

Cyprus
The return.
Cyprus never quite let go of him during the New York years. In 2008 he sang Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Cyprus Opera Organisation in Larnaca, and the following year he joined the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas gala as a soloist — both while still a Juilliard student. Eventually, the return became permanent.
Since then, the island’s stages have become his own: King Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors with Kyrenia Opera; the tenor solo in Mozart’s Requiem with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra under Gregory Buchalter; art-song recitals in Paphos, Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol; and orchestral concerts alongside names from Greek popular music, among them Alkistis Protopsalti, Michalis Hatzigiannis, George Perris, and Mariza Rizou.
Teaching
Performing and teaching,
side by side.
Teaching came alongside performing, not after it. From 2016 he taught voice at the state Music Lyceums of Larnaca and Paphos, and since 2017 he has taught classical voice at the University of Nicosia and European University Cyprus. At his studio in Limassol he works privately with singers at every level, from beginners to young artists preparing conservatoire auditions.
In 2025 he founded the Vocal Excellence Summer Programme: a summer intensive in Limassol for singers aged 12 to 21, built around the kind of training he once had to leave the country to find. Up to thirty singers work daily with an international faculty — private lessons, audition masterclasses, Alexander Technique, vocal-health seminars with medical specialists — and end with a filmed performance.
The three strands are one practice. The stage keeps his teaching honest; the studio keeps his singing curious; and Vocal Excellence exists so that the next generation of singers in Cyprus can begin that journey closer to home.
